Case of the Wednesdays is composed of several wonderful women on their journey of creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We invite you to follow our journeys and share your own experiences!

[The name of the group comes from the group's founder who posted a "Weight Loss Wednesday" on her own personal blog. She had such an overwhelming response from her readers, she decided to create a larger network of women on the same journey and to have posts throughout the week.]

Jenn Week 4

It’s that time again!  Let’s see how this week shaped up.

In one word how do I feel about this week’s progress:  Excited

High of the week: Staying on track all week.  I even got in a quick workout before work on Tuesday.  I only work Mondays and Tuesdays but I am gone from my house for about 11 hrs.  Because of this I typically don’t even attempt a workout on those days.

Low of the week:  I can honestly say this week has been really good.

Weight loss this week: 2.2 lbs! This number has me worrying already about next week’s number.  Over 2 lbs is big for me.  But I am just going to stay on track and let the numbers fall where they will.

Total weight loss since 1/20/13: 4.2 lbs

Inches lost this month: N/A

Total inches lost since: 1/20/13 N/A

New exercises tried: I’ve been a big fan of Zumba for a number of years.  This week I tried Zumba toning for the first time.  This description was taken directly for their web site:  Zumba toning

When it comes to body sculpting, Zumba Toning raises the bar (or rather, the toning stick). It combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and high-energy cardio work with Latin-infused Zumba moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training dance fitness-party. Students learn how to use lightweight, maraca-like Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm and tone all their target zones, including arms, abs, glutes and thighs. Zumba Toning is the perfect way for enthusiasts to sculpt their bodies naturally while having a total blast.

Here is my honest assessment.  I had a good time and love the concept of this class.  I am a believer that an instructor can make or break a class.  I have taken a few classes by this particular instructor at various locations and I am not the biggest fan of her approach.  I enjoy a more high energy, booty shaking, party atmosphere.  She is a bit stiff.  That very important item aside, it was a great work out and still fun.  The addition of the weights made for an even greater calorie burn and I was sore the next day.  I haven’t done that many squats in a very long time!  If Zumba Toning is offered at a facility near you I urge you to check it out.  I’ll be taking it the two times a week it is offered where I go.
The thought of becoming a certified zumba instructor has been something I’ve been toying with for awhile now.  This class has me thinking about that more seriously now….stay tuned!

Things that fuelled me:  As I’ve increased my workouts and their intensity I’ve needed more fuel.  Fruits and veggies are great but I was craving something more substantial.  Boca burgers were my go to lunch item for a long time and then when I was pregnant with Harrison I got away from them.  Mostly because that boy made me a carnivore and if I was going to eat a burger it was going to be the real deal or nothing! This week I brought back the Flame grilled Boca burger into rotation and they have hit the spot.
